Michael Mitchell, age 58, died July 30, 2012 at his home in Sikeston.
He was born December 22, 1953 in Rockford, Illinois, son of Shelby Dockins Kneezle of Sikeston and the late Kenneth Mitchell.
He graduated from Sikeston High School, served in the U.S. Army, and was owner and operator of M.D. Mitchell Trucking.
On February 13, 1981 in Benton, Missouri he married Melba McNeeley; she survives of the home.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Sheri Mitchell and Ryne and Lindsey Mitchell all of Sikeston; one sister, Cindy Mitchell of Elgin, Illinois; two brothers, Mark Kneezle of Sikeston and Tim Mitchell of Elgin, Illinois; and three grandchildren, Peyton Mitchell, Londyn Mitchell and Logan Mitchell.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 3, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Jason Davis, associate pastor of Bethany Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with full military honors.
Pallbearers will be Mike Mitchell, Ryne Mitchell, Mark Kneezle, Mason Kneezle, Billy Johnson and Ray Bell.
