Pete Britt

U.S. Veteran

Pete Britt, age 82, died August 1, 2012 at his home Sikeston, Missouri.

Born May 12, 1930 in Anniston, Missouri, son of the late Calvin and Mae (Moore) Britt, he was a member of First United Methodist Church, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a self employed barber in Sikeston and had worked in sales for the Sikeston City Directory for Johnson Publishing.

On March 20, 1951 he married Frances LaPlant; she survives of the home.

Mr. Britt is also survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ben & Karla Britt of Ballwin, Missouri and Bill & Ann Britt of Franklin, Tennessee; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy & Cliff Ham and Christy & Danny Nelson all of Sikeston and Jeannie & Bruce Baker of Kennett, Missouri; four brothers, Jack Britt of Sikeston, Corky Britt of Harrison, Arkansas, Jerry Britt and Larry Britt both of East Prairie, Missouri; two sisters, Edith Denton of Ontario, California and Earline Bell of East Prairie; fourteen grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Aug. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 6, at 10:00 a.m. The Rev. Geoff Posegate, pastor of First United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with full military honors.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons: B.J. Montgomery, Matthew Britt, Eric Britt, David Britt, Adam Nelson, Blake Nelson, Jordan Roberts, and Joey Seiler.
